The Firth of Clyde Pilot is one of four projects being implemented under Phase III of the Scottish Sustainable Marine Environment Initiative (SSMEI). The SSMEI aims to develop and evaluate approaches to the sustainable management of Scotland's marine resources. The objectives of the Firth of Clyde pilot are to develop and deliver more integrated and sustainable management of the marine and coastal areas of the Firth of Clyde. Our vision for the Firth of Clyde is:
"The Firth of Clyde will have a healthy marine and coastal environment, rich in biodiversity and natural resources. This will enhance the quality of life for local communities and contribute to a diverse and sustainable economy for the West of Scotland."
Draft Firth of Clyde Marine Spatial Plan Launched
Environment minister, Roseanna Cunningham launched the Plan and public consultation on the 31st of March at the Tall Ship in Glasgow.
She said: "The Scottish Government is determined to make marine planning and management more efficient, inclusive and accessible – both now and for future generations. I very much welcome this draft plan, a first for the Clyde which will help inform the future development of marine planning in Scotland, and I congratulate everyone involved in its preparation. I would now urge anyone, whether an individual or representative of industry or community, who has an interest in the future of the Firth of Clyde, to read the draft plan and put forward any suggestions for improvement."
